I am currently living and working in San Francisco while continuing my art practice and education online at SBCC. I received my BA from the University of California Santa Cruz in June 2024. I work in both traditional and digital mediums, ranging from drawing, painting, and sewing to photography and animation. Art has always been a significant way of communication in my life, expressing changes I go through, emotions I feel, and how I perceive the world. I like to create art in mostly traditional mediums (pens, pencils, colored pencils, alcohol markers, and ink), I also use acrylic and paint pens in most of my work. My passion for art is fueled by support from family members, friends, and teachers who see value in my work.
I find my peace through creating and I have learned how the pieces I create can have a positive influence on other people's emotions and views on the Universe. I find meaning in creation, and I fully believe my reason for existing is bringing light into the world through my work. I find much of my inspiration comes to me from music and other artists' art. I like the freedom to express how I feel and push some sort of message to observers.
My motive is to make people wonder, think, and come up with answers and their own meanings they see in my piece that might not necessarily be what I was attempting to express, but it means something to them and shows the way they think and perceive the world around them. I view people, nature, animals, all nonsentient beings, items, and the intangible all as one. We are all the universe, we all are connected. I express this in my art through certain patterns which I like to call “universe matter”, through third eye symbols, and through skeletons which represent entropy, and decay being a natural process in life that shouldn’t be feared but rejoiced.
I enjoy working outdoors and in social settings as it is beneficial to my creative process. My subject matters are often inspired by my environment and its relationship with nature. In my practice, I experiment with different design concepts which sometimes result in playful patterns, figures, and surreal imagery. When I’m working on a project I often find myself lost in my own world of infinite possibilities.
In the future, I look forward to working on more collaborations with others who share similar artistic interests. I will continue to network with artists to exchange ideas, broaden my horizons, and bring more exposure to my work.
